Chrysalis SME League

Pune: The Chrysalis SME League was formally inaugurated in Bavdhan, Pune, marking the commencement of what is being positioned as the World’s Largest Box Cricket Tournament dedicated exclusively to employees from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

The initiative is led by the Chrysalis Entrepreneur Forum (CEF) and represents its third attempt at creating a world record.

The Chrysalis SME League has brought together 66 teams, each comprising 11 players, with a total participation of 726 employees.

Every team is made up entirely of SME employees, representing more than 30 industries from Pune, Mumbai, and neighbouring regions. The tournament is designed to celebrate the SME workforce, widely regarded as the backbone of India’s economy.

Founded in 2012, the Chrysalis Entrepreneur Forum has evolved from a small group of 15 entrepreneurs into a community of over 1,500 entrepreneurs across diverse sectors.

The Forum is chaired by Manish Gupta, whose leadership has been central to scaling initiatives that bring entrepreneurs and their teams together.

Under Gupta’s leadership, CEF is embarking on its third world record attempt. Its earlier milestones include a Limca Book of Records achievement for Skydiving in 2014 and a Guinness World Record in Scuba Diving.

The Chrysalis SME League marks the Forum’s first land-based world record attempt, using box cricket as a platform to encourage large-scale participation, connection, and collective impact.

Addressing the gathering, Manish Gupta, Chairman, Chrysalis Entrepreneur Forum, said: “The world has enough history readers. What it needs is more history writers. This attempt is about creating history and adding one more world record to the name of Bharat, our country.

It is also an opportunity for entrepreneurs to strengthen team bonding and foster a deeper sense of belonging within their organisations.

For employees, it is a moment to recognise and feel grateful that their entrepreneurs and business leaders are investing in them, not just through resources, but through time, trust, and shared experiences.”

The core objective of the world record attempt is to celebrate employees and strengthen organisational culture, using sport as a medium to build energy, camaraderie, and team spirit beyond the workplace.

Reiterating its belief that entrepreneurship plays a critical role in societal progress, CEF reaffirmed its motto, “It’s Great to Be an Entrepreneur.”

The successful completion of the Chrysalis SME League world record attempt is expected to be a moment of pride for all participants, many of whom will earn the distinction of being part of a world record driven by collective commitment and leadership vision.
